About Mountain Home Doodles

We are Tori & Brent, and we are the owners of Mountain Home Doodles.

We live in the small town of Plains, MT, but are frequently at our rental home in Cashmere, WA.  We have guardian dogs in Cashmere and Spokane, WA and in Lewiston, ID.  We travel back and forth a lot but it is the best of lives for all of our dogs and we are very happy to do it.

We fell in love with the Australian Labradoodles after adopting our girl Tika. She is an absolutely extraordinary girl and everything a doodle should be. The breed quickly became our favorite.

The idea for Mountain Home Doodles was born out of our love for Tika and the desire to breed dogs just like her, but in a smaller package, so others could experience the same joy and companionship she has brought to our lives.

We take the health of the breed very seriously and focus on only selecting top quality dogs for our program, no part of this process is taken lightly. We focus on pedigrees, temperament, body structure and health testing.

Our goal is to provide top quality breeding dogs, service dogs, therapy dogs and amazing companions.

At Mountain Home Doodles, our dogs live with us in our home or in one of our guardian homes where they are members of the family.

Australian Labradoodles make outstanding pets for people of all ages. From infants to seniors, and active lifestyles to quiet ones, the Australian Labradoodle is truly one of a kind.

As a proud member of the Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association (WALA) it is our goal to provide the most loving environment possible for our puppies and your new companion.

We work hard behind the scenes raising healthy, socialized, friendly puppies that you get to bring home and love on forever.

The following description of the breed is taken off of the official Australian Labradoodle Club of the US website.

“The Australian Labradoodle is different from all other labradoodles.  In the early days, the Australian Labradoodle was simply a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle.

Dogs from this cross typically were bred to each other over future generations, whereby the Australian dogs are also know as “Multi-generational” Labradoodles.

Then, in the late 1980’s, Tegan Park and Rutland Manor, the two founders of the Australian Labradoodle as we know it today, began carefully infusing several other breeds into early generations of their Lab/Poodle crosses, to improve temperament, coat, conformation, and size.  The infused breeds include Irish Water Spaniel as well as the American and English Cocker Spaniel.  The resulting labradoodles subsequently have been bred to each other, continuing the multi-generational tradition.

Today, Australian Labradoodles are wonderful, intelligent dogs with lush coats that are more reliably low to non-shedding and allergy friendly than other types of Labradoodles such as first generation Lab/Poodle crosses, or first generation crosses bred back to Poodles.  Even when the other types of Labradoodles are bred on for generations, the result is not an Australian Labradoodle, as the attributes of the infused breeds were not included in their ancestry.”
